Darkroom Log

Developed 2 Holga rolls of Arista 400 from the trip to the beach, in HC110-B. Dev’d the first for 5 minutes, then as an experiment dev’d the second in the same solution for 6 minutes, agitating for 15 sec per minute, instead of my normal 10 sec. First couple of frames look ok, fairly equivalent to the first roll, but the rest of the roll doesn’t look so good. But that would be a camera/exposure issue as opposed to development, so I think the experiment can be seen as a relative success.

Developing Film?!

What is this craziness?! :D
Yes, I am off to develop a roll of film as soon as I finish eating. It will be the first roll from the Cadet Reflex, first roll of 127 and first roll of Maco UP100. Lots of firsts. I hope I don’t get too let down by the experience.

Update!
All done. Rodinal 1:25 for 8 minutes. Doesn’t look great, but it’s almost to be expected in the first roll using an old camera. Looks too thin on most of them. Maybe two or three I can squeeze something out of, hopefully.

Darkroom Log

Finally developed the last roll of film from the trip to Vancouver last month! A roll of Arista 400 120 from the Holga, developed in HC-110B for 5 minutes. Now I have a ton of contact sheets and printing to do, except I have a costume to make… I’ll get to it in a week or so hopefully…

Darkroom Log

Just developed the roll of HP5+ from the Kristy Thirsk show last Saturday. It doesn’t look so good. I wasn’t sure how the lighting would be so I decided to push the film to 3200. I developed in HC-110A for 9.5 minutes.

Darkroom Log

Just finished up a couple rolls from the trip last week. Developed two small rolls of 35mm HP5+ in HC-110B for 5 minutes. And a roll of Tri-X from the Widelux, also in HC-110B for 7.5 minutes. Looks pretty good so far, hope to do some scanning after a while.

Also dropped off the roll of color 120 (from the shared Holga roll) at Citizens. That should be ready on Thursday. So then I still need to dev the 2 rolls of Arista 400 from the Holga, and the last roll of 35mm that’s still in the cam needing to be finished up.

Darkroom Log

Today I went to Smith & Bybee Lakes and Kelly Point Park to do some shooting. I took the Widelux, for its second roll, and the B2 Speedex Jr, for its first. The Widelux had bulk loaded HP5+ and the B2SJ (as I think I will call it from now on) had Arista 400. Just developed both, in HC-110B, for 5 minutes. The Widelux roll looks pretty good, hopefully I can scan some later tonight when it’s dry. The B2SJ has some definite light leak problems. The 2nd and 3rd shots don’t look too bad, but the rest need help. I’ve played around with the camera and a flashlight in the dark to see if I can see any immediate bellows problems but nothing is really coming through. I am wondering if the leaks are so small that it really just adds up over time if I keep the lens extended, and that’s why those two pics wouldn’t be so bad, because I took them a couple days ago, and I just popped the lens out to take the pic, then folded him up again, whereas today I was wandering around with it open.

On an old camera note, last night I bought a cute little Ansco Cadet Reflex on ebay for the grand sum of 99 cents. Ya gotta love it.

Darkroom Log

Developed a roll of HP5+ in HC110-B for 5 minutes. The film was rated at 320 instead of 400, so it’s a bit of an experiment to see how the negs will come out I did not adjust the dev time for the film. When they first came out, they looked a bit flat, but as they dried they looked better. Best just to check in the morning and see if the contrast is there. These are pics from the party at Rich’s last Saturday. I think I have a really cute shot of the Dumitrescu sisters 3.
