Some Holga Beach Pics

What is this craziness?! ![]()
Yes, I am off to develop a roll of film as soon as I finish eating. It will be the first roll from the Cadet Reflex, first roll of 127 and first roll of Maco UP100. Lots of firsts. I hope I don’t get too let down by the experience.
Update!
All done. Rodinal 1:25 for 8 minutes. Doesn’t look great, but it’s almost to be expected in the first roll using an old camera. Looks too thin on most of them. Maybe two or three I can squeeze something out of, hopefully.

Well today was Worldwide Pinhole Day… I grabbed the box the Cadet Reflex came in, painted it some, taped it up and tried making a paper negative through a hole in some tin foil. I couldn’t get that box to work for anything. After wasting 4 or 5 sheets of 8×10 I gave up. I then found the black body cap for my N4004 and decided a hole would look real nice in it. I loaded up a little roll of HP5+ and headed out to try it. I used between 1 and 3 second exposures.
Here’s the attempted self portrait… kinda chopped my head off… ![]()

I just realized this weekend that I have two copies of the Phaidon 55 book on Joseph Sudek. So I am going to give it away to some lucky raffle winner. I guess it’s not really a raffle, but you know what I mean.
Enter by visiting my site and leaving a comment on a photo you like (or one you hate! Just tell me why!) and including ‘hey enter me in your book contest’ or something of the sort…
I will pick a winner at the end of April.

I’ve been really lazy and I’m tired of it. From now on I am going to set goals each week and track my progress of achieving what I set out to do. Of course I will be gone most of this week, off to Canada to meet my wonderful friend Manda from Australia and then to spend a couple days with my parents, so I won’t be able to get much done, except take a lot of pictures. I am planning to take 5 rolls of 120 (4 b&w, 1 color) and maybe 6 rolls of 35mm. So the goal will be to shoot as much as possible. I am taking the N80, the Widelux and the Holga.

Sunday, April 24th!
Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day
What is the Worldwide Pinhole Photography day?
This is an international event created to promote and celebrate the art of pinhole photography.
On this unique day, we encourage people throughout the world

Took the second roll with the Widelux yesterday. I think I got some interesting stuff, but sometimes it’s just hard to tell. I really need to get something made for the enlarger so I can print these.
There’s something simple about this one, but I just like it. [Except that smudge shape on the right, which I think might be my finger.]
I took a couple where I showed parts of myself, changing from just capturing the scene I see to showing that I myself was there. If that makes any sense. I think I will continue doing this.

I tried printing on some matte fiber based paper from Adorama recently and boy do I dislike that stuff. Actually it works really good for one of the pics. Probably almost perfect, but for everything else it really looks like crap. Note to self, don’t buy any more! I also tried out the packs of semi-matte (or was it semi-gloss) from the Luminos Sampler. I really like the normal one, very white and clean. Do NOT like the warm tone. The tone doesn’t even seem warm to me, it’s just on a yellow base paper. And not any sort of a nice yellow.

I will now be volunteering every other Saturday at Blue Sky Gallery. It will be really nice to have some Saturdays back for myself. I love volunteering, but giving up every single Saturday just starts to really wear on you. With Spring upon us, my yard beckons.
